Reflection

Lessons learned -
I was able to gain such an extensive amount of knowledge as well as guidance from others. I think that although there were minimal opportunities to lead others, I found ways on how to be a better leader as well as communicator. One way I was able to demonstrate my ability to lead was helping out with D.A.R.E day, I helped gather all the kids and watch over them, and then later got to interact with them at the assembly to teach them that drugs are bad and you can say no.
I think that this internship was actually a turning point in many aspects of my life. I had to learn what it was like to live and work alone as well as all the responsibilities that come with being an adult. I was able to to learn how many other jobs I could possibly obtain with my degree, and where I would potentially like to work. I think that I was able to help many different people in my internship because I was able to bring in a lot of new ideas as well as just a helping hand to get things done around the station.

Future plans
I think this project helped me to understand how to communicate with others better in a work related environment. This was something I have struggled with in school as well as home, and this internship really helped me to be ok with asking questions. This will help in future project to make sure that everyone is on the same page, and all seeing the same vision which is vital in any project. I did not know how close knit everyone in the station is, they treat everyone like family and truly care about one another. I also did not know that dispatch operators can listen to more then call at a time during peak times, and they have to be able to multitask well. I would not like to work in evidence because I enjoy social interactions with others. Evidence tech’s typically stay in a vault in the basement alone which I find would be very difficult for me.
